The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has assured students of the Corps’ protection and stronger collaboration with their leaders to promote peace and security across the state.
Commandant Olatunde gave the assurance on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, when he received Comrade Ayika Victor, the newly elected Director of Action, Contact and Mobilisation of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-East Zone F, who led other student union leaders on a courtesy visit to the State Command Headquarters in Awka.
Commandant Maku welcomed the students and emphasized the shared responsibility of maintaining peace and security.

While assuring them of continuous support and cooperation, the NSCDC helmsman advised the students to exhibit good conduct, be vigilant and disciplined, and avoid involvement in political manipulation as the 2027 elections draw closer.
In his words: “The best you can do for yourself and your family is to make a career out of your studies. As a father, I will advise you to focus on what brought you to your various higher institutions and stay away from youthful exuberance that could damage your reputation.”
He thanked the NANS South-East Zone F leadership for the visit and encouraged continued cooperation to ensure peace and stability in Anambra State and Nigeria in general.
Earlier, Comrade Ayika Victor commended the Anambra State Command of the NSCDC for its proactive approach to security, peacekeeping, and student-friendly engagement, which has contributed to a safer environment for residents and students.
He stated that the purpose of their visit was to strengthen the cordial relationship between students and the NSCDC and to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing student welfare, campus engagement, youth development, and constructive stakeholder relations across tertiary institutions in the South-East.
The students requested NSCDC support and security coverage for their forthcoming engagement with relevant stakeholders in their efforts to keep students away from crime.
