The immediate past Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, has boosted that his era as the 35th Commissioner ended attacks on Police facilities in the state.
He said he achieved that through a rubourst, cordial and peaceful relationship he professional established with the non-state actors (unknown gunmen) operating then in the state.
He said he didn’t get any querry from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, the Anambra State governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo or any organization through out his stayed.
He also boosted that in the future history of Anambra politics, he will remained the only Commissioner of Police that conducted the most less controversial governorship election that return governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for second term in November 8th, 2025.
Orutugu disclosed this while speaking during his Thanksgiving reception, held at Vertex View hotel Nibo- Awka on Sunday, September 20th, 2026.
According to him, I assumed office as the 35th Commissioner of Police for Anambra State on February 10, 2025, succeeding CP Nnaghe Obono Itam amidst high rate of crime.
“As a dedicated and committed officer who have lead the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, I immediately initiated high-profile spot assessments to curb the rate, including investigating security incidents in Nnewi and Uga community in Aguata local government area of the State, where three children of the same family were recovered death from a deep freezer.
“The disturbing incident prompted me to create Effective Community Engagement Policy where Traditional rulers, community President Generals, Community Youth Organizations and Student bodies were engaged as major stakeholders and the initiative yielded the peaceful environment that we are all presently enjoying now in the state.
Other achievements of my era, under review include; Working collaboratively with my assistants and the state government that lead to the end of Monday sit-at-home.

“My era ends violent attacks on Police facilities across the state through proper residential engagement.
The designed and training of operatives of the state-owned security outfit Udo-Ga-Chi was done under my operational watch.
“The most less controversial governorship election ever in Anambra State was conducted under my watch.
“My era ended violent activities before, during and after Imo-Awka festival in Awka.
“It was under my era that the long-standing communal crisis between Aguleri community and Umueri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of the State come to an end.
“So, I am leaving as Commissioner of Police with unforgettable remarks, please go and verify, the records are there, Orutugu boosted further.
He commended the media for their immense support.
In their separate interview with Journalists, the State Attorney general and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke and a former governorship candidate in the state, Sir Godwin Ezeemo, described the celebrant, AIG Orutugu as the most trustworthy CP Anambra would ever produce.
