The Executive Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Capt. Barrister Casmir Nwafor (Rtd), has appealed to Nigeria Police Authority to deployed more Personnel on the state roads especially, in Orumba North and South Council Areas to curb the trending activities of kidnappers and other criminal activities.
Nwafor made the appeal while speaking at the one-day Anambra South Senatorial District security stakeholder’s interactive meeting, held at Nnewi on Wednesday, 12th August, 2026.
He said the deployment was necessary for the general interest of the State.
According to him, deployment of more police personnel on Anambra roads especially on the newly constructed and reconstructed ones in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas like, Amansea–Awa–Ufuma Road, Apo-Ihite road and Ajali-Umunze-Ogbunka road is very necessary for us as business people.
“We need professional security road blocks around the above mentioned areas.
“We need flash-on-the spot check and road blocks to curbed the menace in the areas.
“To be honest, there is need for us to have enough check points and road blocks at Orumba North and South council areas.
“We urgently need enough police presence in Anambra State. We need them. We are business people, we need more police officers on our roads, Nwafor lamented.
The Chairman while commending the State Police Commissioner, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, for organizing the brainstorming session, also appealed to Anambra youths to join Nigeria security forces to be part of it benefits and also to help fight the menace in their various communities and the State at large.
He equally assured the Commissioner of his full support.
On his part, the State Police Commissioner, CP Ama reiterates that effective policing requires the collective support and partnership of the people, assuring Anambra South residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining peace and public order throughout the State.
He encouraged Anambra South residents to actively participate in the engagement and contribute meaningfully towards building a safer and more secure Anambra State.
In his brief remark, the Nnewi North Local Government Chairman, Hon Echezuna Anazado, while also commending the CP for organizing the event, said there is no security challenges in the council area under his watch.
The event also has in attendance stakeholders from the seven local government areas that constitute Anambra South Senatorial District, comprises Aguata, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, and Orumba South respectively
