The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has declared that God gave him the divine ticket to become Anambra governor.
Speaking to journalists and other party stakeholders in Awka, on Friday night, Ukachukwu declared that Anambra is not working at the moment, and urgently needs a transformative leadership focused on security, infrastructure, economy, agriculture and inclusive growth.
The APC governorship hopeful said Anambra has lost it’s glory and further pledged to restore the lost glory of the state by tackling insecurity, revitalising the economy, revamping agriculture and accelerating community development.
He said, “I believe in God’s divine arrangements. If it is God’s will that I become the governor, no force on earth can stop it. I believe God can make you what He wants to make you, but you must make effort. For me, I have come out to run, God has given me ticket to do so. It is now left for you to escalate it to Ndi Anambra if you have the passion for me to be governor.
“Anambra has lost it’s glory. If elected governor, I will restore the glory that Anambra was once known for. I will attract our youths back home through industrial development and sustainable job creation.
“If God says I will be governor, even if you do not work with me, I will still be governor. In this journey, if you do not lose anything, you won’t gain anything. I call you today to work with me to salvage Anambra.
“Anambra is not working and that is not a political statement. That is why we are losing our young ones to other regions, our young ones, after studying cannot get a job in Anambra, because the enablers are not there.
“Anambra is not giving our children the hope they are looking for. Let us do what will make Anambra move forward. I have no apology, I am a village man, I go to my village. We must fix security, agriculture, healthcare, economy, human capital development, doing this is not a rocket science, it is about applying the right methodology.
“When we put someone who has not seen money before to be governor, when they become governor, they first steal money. My key areas of priority include reliable electricity, agricultural, human capital development, transformation and infrastructure renewal.”
While outlining his key priorities, Ukachukwu disclosed plans to harness the state’s natural gas deposits to drive power generation, describing electricity as the “engine of economic development.”
“Electricity is central to any meaningful economic transformation. We will tap into our gas reserves to generate power, but with a people-first approach. The energy infrastructure will be owned by the people, not by government monopolies. We want the people to take ownership, economically and psychologically.
“I promised not to disappoint the people of Anambra State if entrusted with the mandate, I will restore the dignity of the state as the ‘Light of the Nation’.
“I have invested heavily in Anambra because I believe in this state. I plan to retire in my village. My commitment is personal. Investors are staying away because things are not working ,but when we fix the system, companies will come, and our youths will be employed again,” he added.
Earlier, in his address, the Director, Media and Publicity of the Ukachukwu Campaign team, Chido Obidiegwu, described Ukachukwu as a man with the “highest youth cult followership” in Anambra State.
“Essentially, what we are about to do is to inaugurate the media team. We have a responsibility and our obvious task is to dislodge the incumbent. It is simple because we have a combination of Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, this combo is very formidable. We need to be very intentional to convince the people.
“The second reason is that we have an incumbent governor that is overrated, we have a lot of rhetorics, promises that have failed. We have a responsibility to tell the people that this incumbent doesn’t deserve a second term.
“We will begin to interrogate the process and tell Ndi Anambra how we intend to do it differently. From now on, we have to come together and work together to deliver Ukachukwu and Ekwunife on November 8,” Obidiegwu added.
