A community leader and businessman, Chief Cletus Ibeto, has commissioned a couple of projects built by the Chairman, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Echezona Anazodo.
During the exercise, Ibeto expressed absolute satisfaction on the leadership of the LGA over the pace of progress going on across various communities in the area.
He also expressed his total confidence in the Nnewi North LGA Chairman, while assuring of his continued and full support to the Chairman.
He said, “I am solidly behind the chairman of the local council area. If he makes a promise and doesn’t do it, I will do it double. Let’s fight for the progress of our community.
“The two projects which are in line with LGA’s focus on infrastructure, are aimed at controlling erosion and flood water in parts of the council area.
“The erosion has been a challenge, but this time, the Nnewi North LGA leadership has provided a lasting solution with the construction of a bridge and a solid channel and an expansion of the flood water track to ensure stability and sustainability of the bridge which had once more collapsed only recently.
“Now, it has been fully reconstructed and restored by the Nnewi North LGA leadership. I am impressed by the quality of work, with this development, the LGA chairman has redefined local government administration in Nnewi.”
Ibeto, after commissioning the projects, also flagged off the market project, and thanked the LGA chairman for embarking on the projects which he described as “people-oriented and people-friendly”.
The community leader who recalled that many people had lost their homes, including goods and other properties to ecological threats, especially during heavy downpours, urged the people of the local government to support the mayor to succeed in delivering democracy dividends to them.
In his remarks during commissioning, the Council Chairman, EchezonaAnazodo said, “The projects are aimed at controlling flood and erosion in the community. The flood situation which has forced some people out of their homes has also caused loss of goods and properties of residents of the community.
“However, following an assessment of the site, a little over two weeks ago by the Nnewi North Executive Chairman and the supervisory councilor on works, for Nnewi North LGA, AmobiAdukwulu, the present Nnewi North LGA administration was able to bring succour to the community within 16 days, with the construction of a giant channel and drainages which has now arrested the situation.
“We are committed to the people. It is the mandate the people gave me that I am using to work. We are not campaigning. Any project we embark on, we will finish on record time.”
The commissioning of the projects was attended by the President General of the Oduda community, Ikechukwu Obi, the President General of the Nnewichi Community, Chief Surge Egbuna, and the President General of Nnewi, Chief Jude Osumuo.
In their separate speeches, the stakeholders commended the Nnewi North chair for his focused leadership.
The other project commissioned by Chief Cletus Ibeto is the Ukwaka Bridge in UmudimNnewi. This is an important link road but has been under intense pressure from flood water.
Residents of Oduda Nnewichi community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, also commended the council over the infrastructural projects embarked upon by its chairman, Echezona Anazodo.
The projects, including a drainage system and water channel at Oduda Nnewichi which were commissioned over the weekend are aimed at controlling flood that usually causes ecological challenges, erosion and obstruction of movement of goods and services in the community.
The residents who expressed excitement over the projects commended the chairman for his efforts in controlling flood and gully erosion and also fulfilling the promises he made to the community, barely 16 days after promising to bring dividends of democracy to the area.
