Since the appointment of Hon. Monday Nwokoye as the Director of the Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency (SASA), the agency has undergone a remarkable transformation, with residents and commuters praising the sweeping reforms that have effectively ended corruption and street touting across key areas of the state.
In an independent investigation by Pechilly Investigative, several Onitsha residents expressed their joy and relief over the changes brought about by the new leadership. Many credited Hon. Nwokoye’s no-nonsense approach and strong leadership style for restoring peace and order to previously troubled areas.
According to Mr. Emeka Nweke, a keke driver, “The governor did very well by appointing Hon. Nwokoye. Since his resumption, SASA has changed completely. Touts no longer disturb us, and the streets are safer. We thank Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for this wise decision.”
Further interviews conducted with drivers and street vendors echoed similar sentiments. One commercial driver, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated, “Hon. Nwokoye is the best thing that has happened to SASA. With him in charge, all bad practices are coming to an end. We can now do our work in peace without being harassed.”
Since Nwokoye took office, there have been noticeable improvements in law enforcement operations, transparency, and public engagement, signaling a renewed sense of trust between the people and the agency.
Residents and stakeholders continue to commend Governor Soludo for appointing a capable and disciplined hand to steer SASA toward lasting change. As one respondent put it: “SASA is now the best. With Nwokoye, everything is fine.”
Hon. Nwokoye’s tenure marks a new chapter in Anambra’s fight against street crime and public sector corruption — one many hope will continue to deliver positive results across the state.
